Carles Gil named to MLS Team of the Matchday 11

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution midfielder Carles Gil has made the MLS Team of the Matchday 11 following Saturday night’s 2-0 victory over Toronto FC.

This is Carles Gil’s fourth appearance in MLS Team of the Week this season. He previously featured in Matchday 6, Matchday 8, & Matchday 10.

Carles Gil obtained a position in the MLS Team of the Matchday 11 for his eye-catching performance on Saturday afternoon. Gil, who played 88 minutes finished the match with an 8.6 rating according to Fotmob. Offensively, Carles had 1 goal on 4 shot attempts (50% shot accuracy). Gil had 80 touches and 9 passes into the final third. The midfielder went 45/55 (82%) on accurate passes throughout the match with 5/7 accuracy on long balls (71%) and 1/3 (33%) on accurate crosses. He went 5/5 (100%) on successful dribbles and was dispossessed 2 times during the match with 2 chances created. He also took 3 corners during the match. Gil defensively went 10/13 (77%) on tackles won & 1/1 (100%) on aerial duels won. He had 2 tackles & 3 recoveries.  He was fouled 3 times and committed 1 foul during the match.

The New England Revolution (5-1-4, 16 pts.) remain on the road to face off against USL Championship side Rhode Island FC (1-1-3, 4 pts) in a US Open Cup Match. The match is set to kickoff at Centreville Bank Stadium on Wednesday, May 7th at 4:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
