Portland Timbers Briefly

A near win against Austin FC in Texas saw this Portland team put forth a tremendous effort. However, they ultimately fell short of their goal and finished with a disappointing 0-0 draw.

I commend James Pantemis for achieving his third shutout of the season. However, the number of near misses at goal is an area that manager Phil Neville needs to address before the next match against Sporting Kansas City on the road.

However, this draw will be beneficial for the Rose City side in the end. For the Portland Timbers, this will be another challenge to tackle as they look forward to continuing their perfect run.

The Timbers must score to improve their away game record.

Be ready to capitalize on scoring opportunities, as Da Costa is becoming more confident and is causing opposing defenses to feel uneasy. With Moreno, Mora, and Antony making significant contributions, I can see this team making great strides.

My conclusion is that the Portland Timbers can extend their perfect streak, not with a draw, but by securing a win. They are aiming to improve their record while playing away at one of their ultimate goals. Can they achieve this at Children’s Mercy Park?

Sporting Kansas City Briefly

The Peter Vermes era came to an abrupt end after he was recognized as the longest-serving manager in Major League Soccer. Now, it is Kerry Zavagnin’s turn to shine as he takes on the role of interim manager. He will need to make the most of this opportunity to deliver strong results.

Despite challenges, the coach is delivering results as several players, including Dejan Jovelic and Manu Garcia, were named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Week, with Jovelic and Garcia listed as substitutes in the ideal eleven.

The defeat of St. Louis FC led to manager Zavagnin being named Coach of the Week for Week 7, along with several of his players mentioned above.

Will the troubled SKC be able to achieve its desired turnaround, or is this just a smokescreen? There’s only one way to find out. In the past, the Rose City side has had good results at Children’s Mercy Park. Can they continue this perfect streak?
