A new contract for Charlotte FC’s captain

Charlotte FC has signed their captain, Ashley Westwood, to a new contract through 2026 with an option for 2027.

Westwood joined Charlotte FC prior to the 2023 season and has appeared in 65 matches for Charlotte FC across all competitions, recording five goals and nine assists.

Westwood is an integral part of Charlotte FC’s squad in his two seasons, even earning MLS Player of the Matchday honors after recording three assists in a win over FC Cincinnati this season.

Prior to joining Charlotte FC, Westwood played in England for Crewe Alexandra FC, Aston Villa and Burnley FC. Westwood spent 10 years playing in the English Premier League with Aston Villa and Burnley.

Westwood does not plan to play anywhere else after his time in Charlotte ends, “this will definitely be my last club,” said Westwood.
