Charlotte FC picks up a point against Orlando City while playing a man down

Charlotte FC came away with a point in their midweek matchup with Orlando City SC after a 2-2 draw.

Charlotte FC went up 1-0 early with a goal from Kerwin Vargas in the 12^th minute but had to play a man down for a majority of the match after a red card being given to Scott Arfield in the 35^th minute. Charlotte was able to hold on for the remainder of the half to have a 1-0 lead going into the half.

Charlotte made no changes being down a man coming out of the half with a couple chances generated on the counterattack early in the second half. Orlando City was able to equalize in the 64^th minute with a goal from Duncan McGuire.

Charlotte subbed off Kerwin Vargas and Liel Abada for Ben Bender and Brandt Bronico in the 68^th minute. Patrick Agyemang and Bronico were able to link up for a goal in the 77^th minute to retake the lead 2-1.

Charlotte’s lead did not last long before Orlando City equalized again in the 81^st minute with a goal from Facundo Torres. Charlotte was able to hold on for the remainder of the match to get a point.

Charlotte FC’s next match will be on the road against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, June 20 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST and streaming on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
