Charlotte FC gearing up for midweek matchup with Orlando City

Charlotte FC is preparing to take on Orlando City SC following a 1-0 win over DC United over the weekend.

Charlotte sits in fifth place in the MLS Eastern Conference with 28 points and a record of 8-6-4 through 18 matches, while Orlando City is in 14th in the Eastern Conference with 17 points and a 4-8-5 record in 17 matches.

Charlotte’s goalscoring has been inconsistent this season, scoring 19 goals, but only scoring multiple goals in four matches. While the goalscoring has been a problem, they have done well defensively, allowing just 18 goals, the second fewest allowed in the Eastern Conference.

Orlando City has also struggled scoring goals this season, being shut out in seven of their matches and scored multiple goals in five matches. While the attack has been lacking, the defense has been middle of the road with 27 goals allowed, the seventh most in the Eastern Conference. Their goal differential of -10 is third worst in the Eastern Conference.

Charlotte’s form recently has been good, losing just one match since the start of May, while Orlando City has lost four matches and won just two in that same time frame.

Charlotte’s home field advantage will play a big factor in the match. Charlotte has played well as the home team this season, winning six of their 10 home matches with only one loss, while Orlando City have been average on the road with a 3-3-2 record as the visitors to far this season.

Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 19 and is available to stream on free on Apple TV.
