South Africa’s David Miller: T20 has a lot more home runs than baseball!

The sides are beginning to arrive in the USA and the West Indies in readiness for the T20 World Cup.

Among them are South Africa who are getting their preparation done at Broward County Stadium in Florida.

Batsman David Miller addressed reporters there and made a sterling job of trying to promote the sport in new territory. Well aware of the thrills and spills that the 20 over form of the game can produce, he told reporters:

“The American people will definitely enjoy cricket.  There’s a lot of entertainment around it. Compare it to baseball, I just feel there’s a lot more home runs in cricket!”

See the video above for the full interview.

Two outsiders thought to be unlikely to appear have been named in the Proteas squad: Anrich  Nortje and Quinto de De Kock who had announced his retirement from ODIs after the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Nortje had missed almost nine months of cricket due to a back injury.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Aiden Markram will captain the side.

Partnering Nortje in the pace attack will be Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee while Bjorn Fortuin, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi will be the frontline spinners.

The South Africans play Sri Lanka (June 3), Netherlands (June 8), Bangladesh (June 10) and Nepal (June 14) in what looks like one of the easier groups and should qualify, if they overcome the unpredictable Dutch side.

South Africa: Aiden Markram (c), Ottniel Baartman, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs

Travelling reserves: Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi.
