Wigan and Salford meet at the DW Stadium tonight in what is a huge match with plenty at stake.

Wigan Warriors can end round 24 on top of the Super League table with a victory, providing other results go their way. Meanwhile, Salford Red Devils may also need two points to keep their place inside the top six.

The stage is once again set for an enthralling end to a Super League campaign, with so much to play for in the remaining four rounds.

Just two points separate the top three, with the league leaders shield and two play-off semi-final spots up for grabs. Furthermore, there’s only a four point gap between fifth and tenth in the league, with six sides scrambling to get into the last two play-off spots.

Mathematically, only Catalan have actually sealed a play-off spot so far, but Leigh aren’t far away, and Wigan and St Helens only require a point, adding to the Warriors hunger this evening.

Salford currently sit in the last play-off spot, making it vital they pick up every possible point in what is an extremely tough run-in for them.

They are however coming into tonight’s game on the back of two straight victories, with last weekends win being 20-0. Interestingly, Wigan also kept their last opponents scoreless, indicating that we could see a low scoring game later this evening.

The hosts last defeat in the league was on July 7th, since then they have found excellent form at the perfect time in the calendar. They’ve also only lost three times at home in 2023, with the latest of those being three months ago.

The two sides have already met twice this season with Wigan coming out victorious on both occasions. You actually have to go back to 2020 to find the last time that Salford beat the Warriors, and a further three years to the last time they won at the DW Stadium.

As for the team news, Wigan coach Matt Peet has made just the one change to his 21-man squad. Former Red Devil Tyler Dupree won’t play against his old club just yet, having been replaced by Harvey Makin, who is making just his second appearance in the squad this season.

Salford boss Paul Rowley has also only made one change to his 21-man squad, as Rhys Williams returns to the pack in place of James Greenwood.

The match kicks off at 20:00 with full coverage on Sky Sports Action.
