Castleford prepare to face the Robins at the Jungle

Castleford Tigers welcome Hull KR to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle tonight, as the Robins look to prove why they are in the hunt for honours this season.

The Fords come into the game looking to properly kick-start their season. The coaching issue is finally resolved after Andy Last was given the job on a full-time basis, and they can now fully focus on matters on the pitch.

Their last hit-out ended in defeat against Salford, however they pushed the Red Devils close at the AJ Bell and will be looking to go one better tonight.

Castleford have shown glimpses of quality, especially in their wins over West Yorkshire rivals Leeds and Wakefield; however they are yet to put in a consistent 80 minute performance.

The Tigers have also struggled to register points this season, averaging just over 10 points a game and are one of two teams to have a points total less than 100 this season.

They created plenty of chances last week against Salford, and will need to do the same again if they are to go toe-to-toe with the free-scoring Robins tonight.

The Robins come into this game in red hot form. They’ve won their last four games, seeing off Leeds, Wakefield, Hull FC and St Helens in impressive fashion. They played a great brand of clinical, attacking rugby in these win and if they carry this on, it’ll be hard to stop them tonight.

Willie Peters’ side have been impressive this season and they currently sit in third place in the league, and big part of their success is down to their spine.

Mikey Lewis, Jordan Abdull and Lachlan Coote are all working wonders so far and deserve the plaudits they are getting. These three are crucial to Hull KR, and will need another big performance if they want to leave the Jungle with two points. 

So far this season, the talk surrounding Hull KR has been about chasing honours, and two points at the Jungle could go a long way in cementing their place in the top six. Will they come away with the win? 

In team news, Andy Last has named his 21-man-squad for the game, which sees the return of Joe Westerman after his suspension. Jacob Miller is in the squad, however he will be without his usual partner Gareth Widdop. Former Robin Will Tate could make his debut for the Fords against his former employers, and Jack Broadbent will be looking to carry on his good form as he too is included.

Willie Peters has also named his 21-man-squad. He names a strong looking team which includes Mikey Lewis, Jordan Abdull, Lachlan Coote and Tom Opacic. New signing Corey Hall also makes the squad after impressing on his debut last week, and Ethan Ryan returns to the match-day squad. There is no room for Louis Senior in the 21-man-squad this week.
