No surprises in Page’s World Cup 26

Wales manager Robert Page unveiled a predictable collection of names in announcing his squad for Qatar at Tylorstown Welfare Hall in the heart of the South Wales Valleys.

Despite recent injuries, there are places in the squad for Gareth Bale, Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey. Cardiff City youngster Rubin Colwill makes it onto the plane alongside teammate Mark Harris, despite a long injury absence.

Further down the M4, Wales’ second city is represented by defender Ben Cabango alongside Allen. No place though for the highly rated Ollie Cooper.

Page has included veterans Chris Gunter and Jonny Williams in view of their positive impact on the camp in recent years. Wayne Hennessey could add to his 106 caps in goal unless Page sticks with Danny Ward.

The squad features a clutch of Premier League names – Dan James, Kieffer Moore, Brennan Johnson and Harry Wilson for example but also includes players from MK Dons, Swindon Town and Dundee United. Players are drawn from the USA, Italy and France as well as the England, Scotland and of course Wales.

Page will be hoping that they can all pull together to make it a memorable trip to Qatar.
