County Championship Round of Matches starting on Monday- Preview

Monday will see the start of another round of LV=Insurance County Championship matches, after a week of Blast knock out stages of the competition it is back to the red ball version of the game.

In Division One leaders Surrey make the long trip to face Yorkshire at Scarborough. Yorkshire will be buoyed by their last match against Surrey where they defeated the London side in a thriller at the Kia Oval by one wicket on Wednesday in the Blast.

Surrey currently sits at the top of the table with a healthy sixteen-point lead over Hampshire and are unbeaten so far this season having won four and drawn their other four matches in the championship.

Yorkshire, currently find themselves in mid table with just one win to their name, four drawn matches and one defeat.

The home side will be playing at the lovely festival ground of Scarborough and will also have recent signing West Indian Shannon Gabriel available for the match after completing a short-term deal with the side to feature in three championship matches.

Second placed Hampshire will face Warwickshire at the Ageas Bowl, knowing that if Surrey slip up, they could take advantage to cut the gap at the top.

Hampshire have won five of their eight games played so far, with two defeats to their name.

Warwickshire, like Yorkshire find themselves in the middle of the table with just a single victory.

More festival cricket features on Monday when Lancashire welcome Somerset to Southport.

Gloucestershire will be looking to break their duck and register their first win of the season in the championship, having suffered five defeats thus far.
