The Decider: France Women V England Women

France host England on Super Saturday, in the TikTok Women’s Six Nations. Both teams come into this game undefeated and looking to claim the Grand Slam. The game will be played in a sold-out Stade Jean Dauger, Bayonne stadium.

England come into this final day fixture at the top of the Six Nations table on points difference. The Red Roses come into the game of the back of thrashing Ireland 69 – 0 in front of a record Welford Road crowd of 15,836.

Head coach Simon Miiddleton has been forced to make one change in the pack that sees captain Sarah Hunter ruled out with a rib injury. She is replaced by Poppy Cleall.

After gaining her 100th Cap in her birthplace of Leicester, centre Emily Scaratt will captain the side. Flanker Alex Matthews is set to make her 50th international appearance for her country. England are expecting a physical battle up front so bring in Sarah Beckett and Sadia Kabeya onto the bench, for a six, two split of forwards and backs.

France make two changes to the team that defeated Wales in round four of the competition, with Caroline Drouin coming it at fly half to partner supporters player of the round for round four Laure Sansus. That will see experienced fly half Jessy Tremouliere drop to the bench.

The second of France’s changes will see Audrey Forlani join Madoussou Fall in the second row as Celine Ferer moves to flanker.

The last time the two sides met was in the final of last years competition. Due to the pandemic the format was changed, meaning England faced France in a Final instead of who finished top of the table. The Red Roses defeated France 10-6 to claim their third straight title However, we have resorted back to the original format.

The last time France defeated England was in the 2018 Six Nations where they lost by one point going down 18-17. With the Women’s Rugby World Cup starting later this year, this is a key clash between two of the favourite teams to go all the way and lift the tittle in New Zealand.
