Exeter City welcome Swindon Town to St.James’ Park as the race for promotion intensifies.

Exeter City host Swindon Town on Tuesday evening, with a victory for either side propelling them from outside the play-off spots and into third position.

Two of the most in-form teams in League Two collide in a massive game for the destiny of the race for promotion and the playoffs.

Just three points separate the eighth-placed Exeter from third-placed Sutton United, and the Grecians will be looking to bounce back from their first loss in ten league matches following a damaging 2-1 defeat to promotion rivals Mansfield Town.

They have the chance to rectify their mistakes from Friday night by inflicting a defeat on fellow promotion chasers Swindon, who sit just above them in seventh place.

At the weekend, the Robins came from behind to salvage all three points thanks to a 96th-minute penalty from Jack Payne that secured the victory over Bradford City.

However, Swindon were the side that suffered the late heartbreak when these two sides last faced off just four weeks ago.

A Joe Tomlinson goal was overturned in the space of four minutes by Exeter, thanks to an 84th-minute equaliser from Jevani Brown and an 88th-minute winner from Timothée Dieng.

Swindon will be without the influential Harry McKirdy after he picked up his tenth yellow card of the season against Bradford City on Saturday.

The February Player of the Month nominee must now serve a two-game suspension that commences from Tuesday night’s match.

McKirdy has been the catalyst for Swindon’s renewed promotion push, scoring four goals in his last five appearances as well as assisting two more in that period.

The Robins’ attacker has been instrumental for them all season as he sits fourth in the league for the most goal contributions having amassed 22 goals and assists in just 29 appearances, as well as being fourth in the goalscoring charts.

Meanwhile, Exeter’s Brown has also been shortlisted for the February Player of the Month award and looks set to return to the squad having missed the match against Mansfield.

Brown has recently stepped up to the plate for the Grecians who had struggled without their talisman Sam Nombe since he got injured in January.

The Jamaican striker contributed to five goals in as many games in February and helped Exeter revitalise their promotion chances, having won six of their last eight league matches in which the 27-year-old has started.
