Paul Warne’s side will be looking to exert dominance over their promotion rivals over the next couple of weeks with the South Yorkshire outfit now into the second half of their campaign.
If a football club could define the label ‘yo-yo’, it would be Rotherham.
The Millers are yet to enjoy consecutive seasons in the Championship under manager Paul Warne, with their last back-to-back campaigns in the second-tier coming in 2015/16 and 2016/17.
It has been a constant back-and-forth between the Championship and League One under the 48-year-old, with Rotherham narrowly missing out on survival by just two points.
However, as expected the Millers are on track to secure another instant return to the second tier and have the benefit of two games in hand on those above them, which could help start to form a comfortable gap between them and their competitors.
The first of those games in hand comes at home to Lincoln City, who have seriously struggled off the back of their Play-Off final heartbreak against Blackpool last season.
After an impressive campaign, the Imps got themselves one game away from the heights of Championship football, however, after taking a first-minute lead, Michael Appleton’s side were beaten 2-1 by Blackpool.
Now, they sit 18th after 25 games, having spent some time in the relegation zone this campaign.
After securing back-to-back league wins for the first time this season against Oxford United and Sunderland, the Lincolnshire outfit were brought back down to Earth with a 1-0 home defeat to Cambridge United last time out and go to South Yorkshire four points off of the relegation zone.
However, the Imps could knock on the door of the top half with victory at the New York Stadium.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in September, with Michael Smith giving the visitors a first-half lead before Lewis Fiorini secured a point for Lincoln.
