Poland have already qualified for the World Cup play-offs after their comfortable win last time out against Andorra.

Paulo Sousa will look to use this fixture against Hungary as a determiner of squad depth with Robert Lewandowski, Kamil Glik and Grzegorz Krychowiak all set to be sidelined.

The White and Reds were dominant in their last outing against the Tricolours at the Estadio Nacional in Andorra.

It didn’t take long for the Poles to find the back of the net through main man Lewandowski. Kamil Jozwiak pass found the forward who found the bottom corner from close range.

Jozwiak turned goalscorer in the 11th minute as he scored an easy tap-in at the back post following a brilliant cross from Przemyslaw Frankowski.

However, the hosts were able to hit back in the 45th minute after Joan Cervós’ dangerous free-kick avoided everyone and was turned in by Marc Vales.

Poland had the final say in the first half as Arkadiusz Milik scored the visitors’ third of the game. After a loose touch from Lewandowski, the forward was presented with a shooting opportunity that he took with both hands.

Matty Cash, who is in line for a full debut against Hungary, came on for his first Poland appearance after his citizenship approval.

The Aston Villa full-back looked assured and calm as his side searched for a four which they scored in the 73rd minute.

Lewandowski met Piotr Zielinski’s corner at the front post as he notched his second goal of the game that saw Poland run out 4-1 victors.

Hungary, the White and Reds’ final World Cup qualifying opponents, were also victorious last time out as they comfortably beat San Marino 4-0.

Marco Rossi’s men opened the scoring in the sixth minute through talented midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai as the hosts looked to gain an easy three points.

Dániel Gazdag scored the only other goal of the first half as the Hungarians controlled proceedings and held the upper hand at the half-time interval.

The hosts scored twice more through Szoboszlai and Bálint Vécsei in the final 10 minutes as they secured another three points in their battle for third place in the group.

Poland and Hungary faced each other in the first game of the World Cup Qualifiers and played out an enthralling 3-3 draw at the Ferenc Puskás Stadium.

A goal inside the first 10 minutes from Rolland Sallai saw the White and Reds search for a way back into the game before the hosts doubled their lead in the 52nd minute through Adam Szalai.

Substitutes Krzysztof Piatek and Kamil Jozwiak made an immediate impact as their goals levelled the game up at 2-2 on the hour-mark.

Willi Orban scored to put Hungary ahead but Robert Lewandowski had the final say as his powerful effort flew into the top corner as the points were shared.

Exactly 100 years ago, Poland contested their first-ever national game as they faced Hungary in Budapest. The hosts won the game by a slender 1-0 margin as Jenő Szabó’s effort was the only goal of the match.

The White and Reds will be looking to end their World Cup qualifying campaign on a high and this anniversary will mean a lot to them.

Hungary are essentially playing for pride and could still finish in third place if Albania fail to beat Andorra at the Arena Kombëtare this evening.
