Bank Holiday Monday sees a whole host of Betfred Super League action as Salford Red Devils play host to play-off chasing Hull FC who will be looking to close the gap on the top six.

After coming out of the highly anticipated Hull derby victorious, FC lost in a crucial tie against Castleford Tigers, meaning they can’t afford any mistakes against Salford at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Castleford have been in great form so it was always going to be a tough task for FC as the Tigers picked up their fourth win on the bounce. Hull will need to bounce back quickly if they want to pursue their play-off chase as the season draws to a close.

As for Salford, they have had it tough recently. With just one win in their last five, including a loss against bottom side Leigh Centurions, who hadn’t picked up a single point all season.

Red Devils lost against the league leaders last time out, with Catalan Dragons beating Salford by 28 points at the AJ Bell. However, Red Devils’ Head Coach Richard Marshall won’t be reading too much into that game with the Dragons in form and will be wanting to end this run of loses with a result and performance against FC.

As for the team news, Salford have changed their original 21-man squad with Andy Ackers dropping out and being replaced by Oliver Roberts.

The visitors have made a number of changes given this is their second game in the space of five days. Hull FC Academy trio Jude Ferreira, Aidan Burrell, and Marcus Walker are all called into the squad, in place of Carlos Tuimavave, Jack Brown, and Jamie Shaul who are all unavailable due to injury.

FC know exactly what they need to do if they are to keep alive their play-off ambitions, and should be able to overcome Richard Marshall’s side should they show some of the play they demonstrated against bitter rivals Hull KR just two rounds ago in the Betfred Super League.
