Top of the table clash in the Betfred Championship as Featherstone Rovers welcome Toulouse Olympique to The Millennium Stadium

It’s first versus second this weekend in the Betfred Championship as Toulouse travel to Featherstone with both sides hoping to maintain their 100% records this campaign.

It’s been remarkable from both sides to get this far without dropping points, but both can’t last the full season with perfect records, and one team’s dreams could be damaged at The Millennium Stadium this weekend.

Toulouse have played four fewer games than their top of the table rivals meaning they currently occupy the top spot on points difference percentage.

However, that could all change this weekend with both sides in inspired form to go on and give themselves a huge boost towards finishing at the top of the table come the end of the campaign.

Featherstone could give a debut to new signing Gadwin Springer, who has previously played at Catalan Dragons, Castleford Tigers and Toronto Wolfpack as well as Halifax Panthers earlier this year.

They also welcome back a number of key players who missed the 1895 Cup final victory over York City Knights and the league win over Bradford Bulls after they were forced to self isolate.

Rovers Head Coach James Webster has insisted that this game “won’t define the season” and that their goal is still to gain promotion to the Super League but admitted finishing first in the Betfred Championship would be a “nice touch”.

It would add to Featherstone’s previous success a couple of weeks ago as Rovers marched down Wembley Way and returned home with the 1895 Cup after defeating York City Knights under the arch in the capital.

With Covid causing havoc in Super League, many rugby league fans will be tuning in to see how this cracker of an encounter turns out. It may well be a repeat of the lineup for the final with promotion up for grabs in a few months time, so it will be interesting to see who gives themselves the advantage as we approach the business end of the season.
