Ipswich look to showcase new signings one last time in final pre-season outing against Millwall

After an extremely busy transfer window for the Suffolk outfit, Paul Cook will be excited to show Town fans what his new refreshed side has to offer.

With the 2021/22 League One season fast approaching, Ipswich will host Millwall at Portman Road as their final pre-season challenge before what could be a season full of excitement and hope for Town fans.

New manager Paul Cook has certainly been busy over the summer transfer window, as the Ipswich boss was able to add 11 players to his squad ahead of the new season. Most recently English duo Conor Chaplin and George Edmundson were added to the ranks this week, with both expected to feature on Saturday.

Chaplin is an exciting prospect who signed from Barnsley after their sensational season which saw them fall just short of a fairytale promotion during the playoffs. The striker was a regular starter in the Barnsley side and even though he only managed seven goal contributions, the step down to League One should see the forward play a pivotal part in the Ipswich goalmouth action this season.

Chaplin described how excited he was to sign for the Tractor Boys and play under manager Paul Cook again having already worked together at Portsmouth:

“We had a really good time together at Portsmouth and always got on well when we worked together.

“We have stayed in touch and he is someone I really enjoyed playing for. He always gets the best out of his players and I like his style of play as well.”

“I’d like to think I can contribute goals and assists, making the right passes and help the team go in the right direction.”

Both Chaplin and Edmundson should feature alongside the rest of the new signings on Saturday, with one final chance to impress Paul Cook ahead of Ipswich’s league opener against Morecambe.
