Swansea manager Steve Cooper is set to leave via mutual termination of his contract this week.

The news was broken this afternoon by John Percy of The Telegraph.

Cooper has been in charge of the Swans for two years, leading them to two play-off campaigns – falling short at Wembley this summer to Brentford.

The 41-year-old had entered the final year of his contract and is set to officially announce his exit in the coming days.

Crystal Palace were allegedly interested in the former England and Liverpool youth coach before they appointed Patrick Vieira.

Cooper has been coy with communication since the defeat to the Bees but spoke to the press after their 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle yesterday.

“I think if there is any real news that’s when we would speak,” he said.

“There’s no official updates on anything. You know I don’t like talking about myself so let’s focus on the boys.

“I’m here, I’m working hard. I think you could see tonight [against Plymouth]through the good and some of the not so good moments, you could see that the players are trying.

“Day by day that’s how it is. I’ve always been that way. I’ve not paid attention to anything else.”

According to WalesOnline’s Ian Mitchelmore, Swans are already actively looking to replace Cooper by their Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers on August 7th.
