Emi Buendia set to wear Claret and Blue next season as he swaps Norfolk for the Midlands

The Villans are expected to break their transfer record for the third summer in a row, as Norwich City expect to confirm the departure of Emi Buendia as he’ll swap Norfolk for the West Midlands.

Despite Buendia’s links with Arsenal, the winger is poised to sign for Aston Villa for a fee rumoured to be worth around £35 million.

As Charles Watts reported earlier today, Arsenal’s opening bid was turned down whilst Villa are reportedly in advanced talk with Norwich.

The Canaries are used to losing a few star players, for example last summer, as Norwich pocketed a cool £25 million for the sale of Ben Godfrey as the defender moved to Everton. However, the sale of Buendia will trump their previous record.

Having recently earned his first Argentina call-up, Buendia looks set to light up the Premier League on his second attempt previously facing relegation from the top-flight with Norwich.

Capturing the winger is a sign of intent from Villa, finishing 11th in the season just gone. Dean Smith’s side will look to go one step further and make a leap towards European qualification.

Buendia was the Championship’s Player of the Season as he put another promotion on his CV, winning the league with Norwich. The 24-year-old scored a staggering 15 times and assisted 17 goals in just 39 appearances, participating in 42% of the Canaries’ goals last season.

There’s plenty for Villa fans to be excited about next season, with an announcement imminent – the transfer window is well underway at B6.
