Burton Albion face Fleetwood Town with the Cod Army looking for a second consecutive league win

The Brewers are hoping to get back to winning ways after going three games without a victory as they welcome Simon Grayson’s Fleetwood Town to the Pirelli Stadium.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men have hit a bit of a wall with the Staffordshire outfit without a victory in their last three league outings.

Previous to this run of form, Burton were able to get three wins on the bounce which propelled them closer to mid-table in League One.

In their last league match, they travelled to the DW Stadium to face an in-form Wigan Athletic side that looked to escape away from the relegation zone.

Burton took the lead inside the first quarter of an hour. Joe Powell’s free-kick curled into the top right corner beating Jamie Jones and giving the visitors the lead.

Eight minutes before the half-time interval the Latics struck back. Lee Evans’ corner found Will Keane at the near post as the forward headed the ball into the back of the net.

That was how the game finished with the draw ensuring that Burton completed the Great Escape and would be playing League One football next season.

Wigan took the point with open arms as they are only a few points from ensuring their own safety in the third tier with only two games to go.

Grayson’s Fleetwood Town were also on the road at the weekend as they faced an out of form Doncaster Rovers side at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Barrie McKay’s goal in the 51st minute saw the visitors take all three points away from the fixture and saw the Lancashire outfit only four points away from a top 10 finish with three games to go.

In the reverse fixture between Burton and Fleetwood, it was the Cod Army that came out on top at Highbury Stadium back in September.

Callum Camps gave the hosts the lead after 17 minutes with John Brayford equalising for the Brewers in the second-half.

Fleetwood had the final say through Paddy Madden with the 31-year-old’s goal sealing the three points for Joey Barton’s men.

Fleetwood have a mixed record at the Pirelli Stadium with four victories and three defeats in Staffordshire, but they will be looking to keep the winning momentum going until the end of the season.

Burton Albion did beat the Cod Army in their last match at the Pirelli Stadium 1-0 and will be looking to try and extend a winning run against the Lancashire outfit.
