The visit of fourth placed Swansea City won’t be of any help if Darren Moore’s men fail to earn three points.
Sheffield Wednesday saw defeat in the capital as Queens Park Rangers dismantled the Owls at Loftus Road, shipping four goals past Joe Wildsmith. Despite going a goal down, Moore’s side equalised via Josh Windass on the 30th minute – providing a sense of hope. However, QPR came out the better side after the break scoring three goals.
Six games remain for the Yorkshire outfit but assistant manager, Jamie Smith, is determined that the Owls can get it together in order to avoid the drop.
“We keep working and keep fighting. There’s no way this group of players will give up. It’s a big six games to come, they’re all tough teams, tough games.”
Prior to their defeat against QPR, Wednesday beat Cardiff by five goals to nil, goals from Adam Reach, Jordan Rhodes, Callum Paterson and Julia Boner sunk the Bluebirds on home soil. Moore will be hoping that his side will be able to recover from their loss in London and bounce back against the Swans.
Since the arrival of the former West Brom manager, the Owls have adopted a three at the back system which has proved to work well at times however Wednesday are yet to find consistency.
As the Championship relegation battle draws to its conclusion, Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to muster a number of results in order to remain in the division. Local rivals, Rotherham United, sit just one point above the Owls but with three games in hand which could possibly haunt Moore’s men.
Swansea City come into the clash following a 3-0 win in Bermondsey, defeating Millwall at The Den. A Jamal Lowe brace and an Andre Ayew goal handed the Swans’ first win in four league outings however, Steve Cooper’s side still remain in contention for the play-offs.
The Jacks will look to hurt the Owls on Tuesday night as both sides look to do battle for the final time this season, a win for Swansea could seem them go above Brentford who sit just one point above them – potentially easing the pressure to confirm their play-off position.
