Alex Revell takes his Stevenage side to Oldham in what is the first of their Easter weekend double-header in League Two.
The Boro come into this game on the back of some great form which has seen them turn their season around as they aim to stay in the fourth tier after their scare last season which saw them relegated, but they remained a League Two side after Macclesfield’s liquidation.
Currently sat on 49 points in 14th position, Stevenage look to have done enough, however, Revell will be hoping his team can maintain their impressive run as they search for their third consecutive win.
Last time out, the Boro beat relegation-threatened Barrow 2-1 courtesy of second-half goals from Elliott List and Luke Norris.
Speaking after that game, manager Alex Revell was praising his side’s character:
“I don’t think there is a team in the Football League that has had the turnaround we’ve had. I’m extremely proud of how far we’ve come, it’s a very different team from what we were”
His opponents this Good Friday, Oldham, currently occupy 17th position in League Two. After winning just two of their previous 14 league games, they will be looking for drastic improvements.
Newly appointed Oldham boss Keith Curle has managed just one win out of a possible six, with his only victory coming against Exeter beating the Grecians 2-1.
In this season’s previous meeting between the two clubs all the way back in September, it was Boro who emerged victorious as they comfortably won 3-0 at the Lamex Stadium with second-half goals coming from Elliot Osborne, Luke Prosser and Luther Wildin.
George Blackwood, Marcus Barnes and Zak Dearnley all still remain out for Oldham, whilst Ben Garrity and Sido Jombati are both close to returning to the matchday squad.
However, goalkeeper Ian Lawlor is still out injured and looks likely to miss the remainder of the season.
Stevenage are still without Danny Newton, Ross Marshall and Charlie Carter as they all remain out for the foreseeable future. Whilst Terrence Vancooten will miss the game at Boundary Park as he is still away on international duty representing Guyana.
