Ipswich host Bristol Rovers as they attempt a late push for the play-offs

In a season full of ups and downs including the sacking of former manager Paul Lambert and the appointment of Paul Cook as replacement, Ipswich will look to make a late push for the play-offs in an unprecedented season.

With just one win in their last six games, Ipswich will have to improve on what has been some horrible form recently if they want to stand any hope of a return to the Championship next season.

The Blues have already surpassed their points tally from last season, when they finished 11th in the league with 52 points. Ipswich now sit on 55 points in the same spot that they finished last season in, with a very close run in expected in the games to come.

Only three points separate Ipswich in 11th and Portsmouth in fifth with just ten games left to play in the campaign. Of their remaining games, Ipswich have a fairly easy run in as they only face one team from the top half of the table, with the rest of their matches against potential relegation sides.

As for their opponents on Good Friday, Bristol Rovers are one of the teams at the bottom of the table potentially facing the drop as they struggle for any sort of form having lost their last four games in a row.

There is still light at the end of the tunnel for the Gas who are in a similar position to Ipswich, as they are only three points away from the relative safety of Swindon who are in 19th place and safe from the drop.

With fixtures coming thick and fast towards the end of the season, both sides will be hoping to carry momentum and good results into the end of the season. A draw on Friday simply isn’t good enough for either side as they both desperately hunt for points during the most crucial time of the season.
