UAE Arabian Gulf League: Matchweek 21 Preview

The fixtures are coming thick and fast as we approach another week of Arabian Gulf League Football.

Al Wasl and Ajman kick off the action at the Zabeel Stadium. Both teams come into this on the back of draws in their previous game. The Orange Brigade side are seeking victory in their bid for safety with just six games remaining. Meanwhile, the visitors are also winless in their past four games after settling for four straight draws.

Leaders Al Jazira host Al Fujairah who come into this having not won their last four games. The Wolves are looking for a victory to move out of the relegation zone whilst Marcel Keizer’s side unbeaten in their last seven, sit just two points at the top, looking strong favorites to win their third UAE title with the upcoming games they have got remaining.

Hatta couldn’t respond from their second win of the season after their defeat to Al Jazira as they linger at the bottom of the table, ten points from safety and face an uphill task of survival. Vladimir Vermezovic is side face Khor Fakkan and will hope for a miracle in their last six games. The Eagles have won only one out of their five previous game following the 5-1 thrashing against Al Sharjah and sit seven points from relegation.

Shabab Al-Ahli dropped points twice in their last two games which decreased their chances of retaining their title. However, the Red Knights will look to continue their ten game unbeaten run and aim to qualify for the AFC Champions League, when they host Sharjah FC who ended a run of five games after they hammered Khor Fakkan 5-1. The King’s are four points from the top.

The action continues on Tuesday as Al Wahda face Al Dhafra. A game where both teams will want to respond following defeats. The visitors haven’t won in their last ten games and will look to end that with victory.

The Red Giant’s announced the sacking of 48-year-old Serbian coach Vuk Rosavic and have appointed former Barcelona and Chelsea assistant coach Tin Cat until 2022. Wahda sit in eighth on 29 points, 15 points behind leaders Al Jazira. The defeat to Al Ain was the last straw after draws against relegation threateners Ajman and mid-table Al-Wasl in their previous two games.

Al Nasr made their chances of titles hopes even more difficult after they left it late to concede two goal’s to Baniyas, to go eight points from Al Jazira at the top. They welcome Al-Ittihad Kalba who ended a four game winless streak with a victory against Al Dhafra and sit comfortably in ninth.

We end the day with a clash between two teams in form as Baniyas and Al Ain clash at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. The Boss’ continued their six game unbeaten streak after a superb 0-4 win against Al Wahda, whilst the Sky Blues have won three games in a row following their semi final cup exit could go top of the table with a win if Al Jazira were to lose.
