Hampshire sign Mohammed Abbas for the first two months of the season

Hampshire have completed the signing of Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas for the first couple of months of the season for the County Championship.

The 30-year-old will line up with Kyle Abbott as the counties two overseas players for the beginning of the season.

The seamer has experience in the domestic game, featuring for Leicestershire before and was due to play for Nottinghamshire last season before the season was cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 regulations.

Abbas played in both of his countries Test Matches against England at the Ageas Bowl so knows the stadium well ahead of his move to the county.

He has taken 84 wickets in 23 Test to date for his country following his debut back in 2017.

A decision will be made on whether Hampshire sign him for the later part of the competition once they know which division they have qualified for in August.

Abbas is in line to make his debut for Hampshire at his former club Leicestershire at Grace Road on the 8th April, before making a home debut a week later against Middlesex.
