Sciver stars as England comfortably beat New Zealand

England easily beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the opening T20 of the series against New Zealand in Wellington overnight with Nat Sciver the star.

The White Ferns struggled throughout their innings, with Katey Martin (36) the only player to make a notable score as they were dismissed for just 96 in the final over.

Four bowlers took two wickets with the ball as the tourists limited the hosts to a well below par score.

England raced to a fast start, reaching 59 before losing a wicket, however they did lose three wickets in just over two overs to cause a few problems but Sciver (26*) and Amy Jones (12*) guided the tourists to a seven wicket victory.

The second match of the series is on Friday and will be combined in a double header with New Zealand’s men’s fixture against Australia.
