Australia set the pace with the bat, hitting a highly competitive 208-4 from their 20 overs thanks to scores of 69 and 70 from Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell respectively.
The Aussie’ innings included a fine knock from Josh Philippe (43) before Maxwell took 28 off an over of Jimmy Neesham to put them firmly in control at the break.
The Kiwi’s made a fast start to the chase with Martin Guptil smashing 43 but after he fail it was always going to be a challenge with Devon Conway (38) the only other player to make a telling score.
Agar was the start for the Aussies, taking 6-30, including three in one over as the Kiwi’s lost their final seven wickets for just 35 runs.
New Zealand now lead the series 2-1 with two games left to play with the final two matches set to take place on Friday and Sunday.
