Huddersfield Town look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Championship strugglers Wycombe Wanderers

After failing to register a win in their previous seven fixtures, Huddersfield Town will be looking to improve as they host Wycombe Wanderers who lie rock-bottom of the Sky Bet Championship.

In what is a crucial game for both, it is Wycombe who are desperately in need of a win as they sit 24th in the table and are currently a substantial 12 points from safety.

If Gareth Ainsworth’s men are to turn their season around, it may have to start this weekend at the John Smith’s Stadium as they look to escape the drop.

During this campaign the Chairboys have registered just three wins, drawing seven, and losing 17, form that is simply below par and could potentially lead them to relegation come May.

Huddersfield aren’t in great form either, and currently find themselves in 17th position, just five points above the relegation zone.

A defeat on Saturday could plunge them deeper into trouble, however, if they manage to win their first game this calendar year, it would come as a big relief for Carlos Corberán’s side.

In the reverse fixture when the two sides met earlier this season, the game at Adams Park finished 0-0, a similar result this time round wouldn’t really suit either team as they both search for all three points.

The sides have only ever faced each other 11 times competitively, with the Terriers getting the better of Wycombe on six occasions. The Chairboys have won twice, with the other three occasions ending in draws.

Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberán has confirmed that Rolando Aarons will miss Saturday’s game against Wycombe Wanderers with a hamstring problem. The winger, who was recently signed in January, sustained the injury during Wednesday’s training session and will therefore be out for for the next few weeks.

This is another headache for the Spaniard who was already suffering from injury crisis prior to this news. Aarons joins the list which already consists of Danny Ward, Josh Koroma, Richard Stearman, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Christopher Schindler, Carel Eiting and Tommy Elphick, who are all still sidelined.

The Terriers will also be without left-back Harry Toffolo as he serves the first of his three-match suspension during Saturday’s game against Wycombe following his red card last weekend. Town manager Corberan stated that it would be Lewis O’Brien who would likely be the one to cover the absence of Toffolo.

On the other hand, Wycombe have no fresh injury concerns as midfielder Dominic Gape returned to full training during the week after a sustained period on the sideline. While Joe Jacobson has also recovered from his set back as he made an appearance on the bench during their midweek loss away to Sheffield Wednesday.
