Rotherham and Derby go head-to-head in relegation six-pointer

Rotherham United host Derby County in their rearranged fixture on Tuesday evening as the Rams go in search of their fourth consecutive win.

Still new to his managerial reign, Wayne Rooney has dragged Derby out of the bottom three and into 18th spot ahead of Tuesday’s six-pointer.

Consecutive 1-0 victories over Bournemouth, QPR and Bristol City stand the Rams in good stead prior to their clash with Paul Warne’s side.

Rooney’s men are currently sixth in the Championship form table, highlighting clear progression in their performances since the Phillip Cocu days.

Rotherham’s form has been competent as of late too.

The Millers have won twice and drawn once in their last four matches, including their own 1-0 victory over Derby in the reverse fixture at Pride Park.

The South Yorkshire side currently occupy a spot in the relegation zone, however, they do have two games in hand over most of their relegation rivals and are just three points away from 21st place.

A win would be crucial for either side.

It provides Rotherham with the chance to draw Derby back towards the bottom three and potentially exit the relegation zone themselves.

Whereas for the Rams a win could potentially be season defining and lift the club eight points clear of the bottom three.

Head to head

Rotherham and Derby have faced each other 50 times before, with the latter only just boasting the bragging rights.

The Rams have beat their opposition 18 times before.

The Millers have 15 victories to their name.

It has ended all square on 17 occasions.
