Ipswich look to end Peterborough’s hot form as they welcome The Posh to Portman Road

Peterborough are unbeaten in their last five league games and travel to Portman Road with back to back wins under their belt. The Posh will look to stop Ipswich from rising back up the table and challenging for promotion.

Ipswich have had an eventful week in terms of comings and goings. The latest player to leave is defender Janoi Donacien, who departed on loan to fellow League One side Fleetwood Town during the week.

The Blues signed two new attacking players this week in the form of Luke Thomas and Josh Harrop, it is unlikely that either player will start on Saturday however they both could be on the bench to help reinforce the Ipswich attack.

The new signings may be forced into the starting 11 this weekend however as the Blues will be without striker Oli Hawkins, who is to undergo a knee operation which is expected to keep him out of action for around six weeks.

Fellow strikers Kayden Jackson and James Norwood will be assessed before the game on Saturday with both forwards struggling with injuries during the week.

Peterborough’s attack is almost the opposite of their oppositions this week, as the visitors boast the league’s top goalscorer in Jonson Clark-Harris. The lethal forward will be partnered up front with Sammie Szmodics, a striker bang in form with two braces in his last two league games.

Ipswich are currently eighth in the table coming into this weekend’s fixture, the Blues do however have a game in hand over their opponents this week due to Coronavirus troubles at the beginning of this year.

A win for Ipswich would take them to just one point behind Peterborough with a game in hand, meaning that The Tractor Boys could establish themselves as serious promotion contenders this season with an upset on Saturday.
