Northampton Town new forwards Edmondson and Miller set to make debuts against mid-table Blackpool

Northampton Town travel to Blackpool in Sky Bet League One tomorrow night with both teams eying the three points.

Blackpool currently sit 14th after 21 games played, but Neil Critchley’s men will look to move up the league and aim to finish in the top half of the table, after ending last season in 13th The Seasiders have picked up some good points in the last few weeks including beating promotion hopeful Hull City and draws against teams around them.

Northampton Town on the other hand have had an up and down season to date. They currently sit 20th after 21 games played. However, the recent win against Gillingham and the draw against Sunderland puts the Cobblers in good stead for the game tomorrow night.

In the mid-week, Keith Curle strengthened his side’s attack by bringing in two forwards on loan until the end of the season. The first being Mickel Miller on loan from Rotherham United until the end of the season. The ex- Hamilton Academical forward has been a target for Curle for a few seasons now and looks to help improve the cobblers going forward.

The second acquisition is Ryan Edmondson from Leeds United on loan. Edmondson spent the first half of the season at Aberdeen but it was cut short due to lack of game time and the Cobblers were the first to pounce. Again, Edmondson has been a target of Curle’s for a while so it is a deal which suits both parties.

In terms of transfers for Blackpool, the transfer situation is very quiet. Winger Dan Kemp, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Bloomfield Road, had his loan cut short to sign permanently for League Two side Leyton Orient.

The Seasiders also lost Ben Woodburn on loan from Liverpool whose loan spell finished. The club were keen to extend until the end of the season but nothing was agreed. Critchley will definitely be looking to strengthen soon.

The two teams have faced each other 35 times with the most recent back in the 2018/2019 season where Blackpool ran out 3-0 winners. The Cobblers have only won 10 of the 35 games with Blackpool winning 18.

But with a current injury crisis at Blackpool with both Keshi Anderson and CJ Hamilton out, the Cobblers are playing the Lancashire side at a good time and with the two new boys at the cobblers, it could be a closely contested encounter at Bloomfield Road.
