It has been a tough couple of weeks for both of these sides with Leeds crashing out of the FA Cup to Crawley Town after a humbling defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League. Brighton meanwhile, scraped past League Two Newport County on penalties and then fell to defeat at the Etihad, a result which leaves them only two points clear of the relegation zone having played two games more.
Both teams will be without key players for the game on Saturday afternoon. Leeds United will be missing the influential Kalvin Phillips at the heart of midfield and also summer signing Robin Koch still won’t be available after undergoing knee surgery in December.
The Seagulls will be without numerous first-team players with the likes of Aaron Connolly, Tariq Lamptey, and Danny Welbeck all set to miss out amongst others, making the trip to Elland Road an even more difficult one than it would already have been.
The previous meeting between these two sides came in the Championship in 2017 as Leeds ran out 2-0 winners with two second-half goals from Chris Wood enough to seal all three points. Brighton would go on to be promoted that season and have been in the Premier League ever since.
The key players to watch in this game will be Patrick Bamford for Leeds, the forward has grabbed ten goals in 17 games so far in the Premier League and has been vital to the Whites attack this season. For Brighton, defender Ben White has been a standout as he will face off against the team he excelled with on loan last season and he will be looking to prove himself against them as they look to stave off the bottom three.
It should be a competitive game between two sides with different aspirations in the Premier League and it will more than likely be a tight affair.
