With Wesley slowly returning to fitness, now is time for Davis to go on loan and get his confidence back.
Keinan Davis made his debut for Aston Villa in 2017 against Norwich City after the Villan’s faced a crisis within their frontline, and Davis impressed the Villa faithful after a positive performance against the Canaries. In his debut season, Davis played a total of 30 games in all competitions scoring four times as well as assisting four times. Since that campaign under Steve Bruce, Davis has made only 38 appearances in three seasons under Dean Smith.
The time has come now in this January transfer window for Davis, having been linked with Stoke City who face a problem within their front three. A few months on loan in the Championship will be able to reignite that something special in the Englishman’s game.
Davis possesses a number of characteristics all strikers desire; good hold-up play, an aerial presence and natural strength. However, one thing that the out of favour forward lacks is clinical finishing in the final third. His tally of only five goals in 74 appearances in claret & blue is a negative aspect, although this stat doesn’t really appreciate the 22-year-old’s style of play during his time at Villa.
Michael O’Neill’s Stoke City would provide Keinan Davis the opportunity to gain ever so needed minutes in a physical league, which would suit Davis’ style of play. Now an older and more aware player, Davis has all the tools to flourish on loan and realise the potential touted of him by those at Villa.
