Stadium MK welcomes fans back as MK Dons take on Burton Albion

For the first time in over nine months, Stadium MK will be able to welcome 2,000 fans into a league match, as MK Dons welcome Burton Albion.

Russell Martin and his men will be looking to build on an impressive win over Norwich City Under-21s during the week as MK cruised to a 6-0 victory to book themselves a place in the next round of the Papa John’s Trophy.

Despite sitting 17^th in Sky Bet League One with the same number of points as their league position, the Dons have lost just one of their last six home league outings, scoring nine goals in the process with Cameron Jerome registering four to his name.

Burton Albion arrive in Buckinghamshire with 12 points to their name, putting them 22^nd and four points from safety. Their previous two league outings saw them draw 1-1 at home to Crewe Alexandra and away at Sunderland.

Jake Buxton will certainly be hoping to improve the defensive performances given considering that they have shipped 30 goals this season, the second-highest total in the league.

Whilst their defence may be faltering, goalscoring has not proved such an issue, netting 20 times already and the goals have been well and truly shared amongst the squad. Leading the way for the Brewers are Lucas Akins and Kane Hemmings, both slotting home five goals apiece.

Both Russell Martin and Jake Buxton are in their first full seasons in football management off the back of lengthy and prestigious playing careers. Finding the balance between implementing their desired playing style and results has proven tricky for the pair but remain adamant in their beliefs that results will improve, pleading for the fans to “trust the process”, Martin especially.

Scott Fraser put pen to paper, signing with MK Dons during the summer transfer window, having left Burton after two fruitful seasons.

His arrival at Stadium MK was believed to be a coup amongst Dons supporters and the 25-year-old has hit the ground running, scoring five goals so far and has become a fans favourite in the short space of time so far. It will be interesting to see how Burton try to nullify their former talisman knowing the danger the Scotsman poses.

Whatever may have developed come five o’clock on Saturday afternoon, 2,000 fans will exit Stadium MK for the first time in 281 days from a league fixture. The views of all players, staff, and supporters? About time too!
