Mansfield Town look to continue great form as Crawley Town travel to the One Call Stadium

Mansfield have been impressive under Nigel Clough so far and have only lost once in six games under their new boss.

They’ll look to continue their good run as Crawley Town come to NG18.

Mansfield Town have been entirely transformed by Clough and have managed to claw their way out of the relegation zone and make it to the third round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2017/18 campaign.

In their last league outing, the amber and blues faced off against high-flyers Cambridge United at the Abbey. The game was an even match throughout, but Jamie Reid’s goal was enough to earn all three points for the Stags.

Crawley Town similarly to Mansfield made it through to round three of the FA Cup, but they were able to get the result they needed in 90 minutes, not 120.

They faced League One side AFC Wimbledon in the second round at Plough Lane. Joe Pigott put the Dons ahead after 22 minutes of the game, but Ashley Nadasan pegged back for the Red Devils eight minutes later.

The two sides went into half-time level at 1-1. Max Watters notched a goal four minutes into the second half which eventually won Crawley the match and sent them into round three.

During midweek, the Red Devils travelled to the Colchester Community Stadium in what was a mid-table clash between the two sides.

The home side got off to a better start. Callum Harriott fired past Glenn Morris from a Miles Welch-Hayes assist to open the scoring in the game.

After a Tom Dallison header back into the danger area, Jordan Tunnicliffe scored for Crawley to put the away side back into the game seven minutes later.

The fixture ended in a 1-1 draw and both sides came out with a point from the battle which put Crawley up to 13th and kept Colchester in 12th.

Mansfield’s last encounter with Crawley came at the People’s Pension Stadium and proved their one and only meeting in the 2019/20 season as the League Two season was cut short due to the Coronavirus.

Beryly Lubala’s was the deciding goal for Crawley in the 53rd minute as the Red Devils ran out as 1-0 victors on the afternoon which gave them a valuable three points.

In the last five outings between these two sides we have seen two Crawley wins, two draws and one Stags win so the amber and blues will be looking for retribution against the Red Devils this weekend at the One Call Stadium.
