Steve Cook set for milestone as Cherries host Nottingham Forest

Defender Steve Cook is in line to make his 350th Bournemouth appearance tomorrow evening as the Cherries host lowly Nottingham Forest.

The central defender joined the club all the way back in 2011 following an initial loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion and has played an integral role in the recent success the club has experienced.

The 29-year-old played a key role at the weekend too, helping Jason Tindall’s side to come back from 2-0 at half time to secure three points against Reading at the Vitality Stadium.

He will once more be important in this game at the heart of the back three, despite Forest having only netted nine times so far in the Championship.

It has been a very mixed started to the season for Forest but they have improved of late, winning two of their last three following the appointment of Chris Hughton, someone who the Cherries have come up against on a number of occasions, particularly during his time at Brighton along the coast.

Cook has been speaking about the achievement of nearly reaching 350 games for Bournemouth of this clash to the Club’s official website.

“As a kid, you always wanted to be a footballer and hoped you would play a few games.

“I have been very fortunate to have played 349 times for this club and will never take that for granted, we have had some memorable seasons and I would like to think there are many more to come.

“It has been an honour and privilege to captain the team and play for such a wonderful club for as long as I have.”

A win for the home side coupled with drop points by Norwich at Stoke would see Tindall’s side move back up to the top of the division after 13 games as we come close to the Christmas period.
