Milton Keynes hope to breakdown Hull City’s steely defence

This Saturday, Milton Keynes Dons welcome Hull City in a Sky Bet League One clash at Stadium MK. Both sides are entering the clash in reasonable form and are looking to keep their respective runs continuing.

MK Dons currently find themselves sitting 14^th in the League One table and after a poor opening to the campaign, only allotting five points from the first eight matches, the form has turned around for the side from Buckinghamshire, who will now aim to continue their impressive run by extending their unbeaten run to five games.

Hull arrive in Milton Keynes off the back of four successive victories across league and cup games, having not conceded in their last 399 minutes of play. The Tigers proudly sit second in the table and excluding Charlton, they can boast the best defensive record with only nine goals conceded from their opening 11 games.

To complement the defensive stability, Hull can also rely on a potent strike force which is fronted by Mallik Wilks, the 21-year-old has netted seven times in 13 games. Wilks has been supported by Keane Lewis-Potter, himself scoring six times and assisting five times also. Lewis-Potter, at 19-years-old, is already hearing calls for his name to appear in an England youth set up sooner rather than later.

MK Dons put in an impressive display last time out away at Sunderland, taking home a 2-1 victory after a deft header from Cameron Jerome and a penalty from Scott Fraser secured the points. With Daniel Harvie and Regan Poole returning to the squad from international duty, Russell Martin’s side is now back at arguably full strength.

Martin made an important addition to his squad during the week, signing Andrew Surman on a short-term contract. The 34-year-old has been without a club since his departure from Bournemouth over the summer. His signing could prove crucial to the Dons continuing their strong form and will provide Martin with another option with Premier League experience, following the summer acquisitions of Richard Keogh and Cameron Jerome.

Grant McCann: “I watched them at Northampton and they impressed me. They are a good football team and are very possession-based, Russell has them playing a good way. I think it will be a good game of football in a Stadium that is similar to ours – it’ll be a good game. They’ve some experienced players and have a nice blend, we want to win the game though and that’s what we’d like to happen.”

Russell Martin: “Hull are a massive club and Saturday will be a tough test – they’ve recruited really well for this division and kept hold of several key players. They are living up to their expectations of where they’d want to be this year.”
