“We’re just getting started” – Farrell hails youthful England, Ben Youngs and Eddie Jones

England Rugby captain Owen Farrell was ecstatic as his England side won the Six Nations on Sunday. The Roses defeated Italy 34-5, securing the bonus point they needed to regain the trophy back from Wales.

“It was an enjoyable game to watch – it got to a point where it seemed like it was going our way and thankfully it did.”

Under Eddie Jones, England have picked up three Six Nations triumphs in 2016, 2017 and now 2020, after reaching a World Cup final last October only to be defeated by South Africa.

“He (Jones) has obviously been brilliant. The best thing I can say is that we all love being in camp, we all love working hard to improve and hopefully that translates to the field.

“The team has massively improved and I think we’re only just getting started. We’ve got four more new caps today, someone who has 100 caps in Ben (Youngs), and Jamie (George) who got his 50th, and we feel as if we have an excellent blend of experience and youth to drive us forward. We’re looking forward to what’s in front of us as well.”

The aforementioned Youngs was also the subject of praise for Farrell. The Leicester Tigers scrum-half celebrated his century of caps by scoring two tries and winning man of the match in the bout against the Azzurri.

“I’m chuffed for Ben, it’s a huge achievement to reach 100 caps, and to become the second person to do it for England – it’s massive. To have such a good game like he did and to top it off with the trophy is brilliant. I’m chuffed with him.”
