Clubs in League One and Two return to training

Across Leagues One and Two, several clubs have started to return to training. It is very different to the usual system. Here are a few of the changes that have been made by clubs, to abide by, and be Covid secure.

Leyton Orient were one of the first clubs in the lower leagues to return to training. This was made possible after the first round of testing on staff and players, came back with zero cases.

All clubs will need to test staff and players before a return to training, to ensure nobody has Covid-19, and to prevent the spread. Players at Leyton Orient were also photographed having their temperatures taken before being allowed in. This, again, is one of the measures clubs will be taking to make sure everybody is healthy.

Another safety measure being taken, is that players arrive with, and take home, their own training kits. This is to make sure that any player with underlying issues do not contaminate other players kits. This is a measure that being taken across the board, and a measure that will no doubt be welcomed for the kit-men, who would also be handling all of the players kits.

Another team to resume to training this week, were Mansfield Town. In an interview on the club’s social media, Mansfield player Danny Rose spoke of how training has been altered, to include a one-way system in the buildings.

Mansfield are also currently having two separate groups in for training. These groups won’t cross over to begin with, to keep numbers lower than usual.

Smaller groups is not just unique to Mansfield. In a Q and A evening with fans, Walsall manager Darrell Clarke spoke about how he will be getting players back in training, when they go back in the next few days. They will return in small groups initially, before getting back to full squad training, for the same reasons as Mansfield.

Now that we know when football is due to return, we will see many clubs who aren’t yet in training, returning soon, and each will have their own unique ways of keeping Covid secure.
