Tottenham look to put pressure on top four as they host struggling West Ham

Tottenham host relegation-threatened West Ham tomorrow evening as they look to put pressure on Wolves, Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for the Champions League places.

Both sides dropped points in the Premier League’s resumption at the weekend, Spurs drawing 1-1 with Manchester United, while West Ham were beaten 2-0 at home to Wolves.

All this leaves Spurs four points adrift of Manchester United and Wolves in the chase to secure European Football next season, the Hammers only out of the drop zone on goal difference.

The London derby holds even more significance than usual with both sides in contrasting positions in the table with so much left to fight for.

The Spurs boss has a fully fit squad to choose upon for the visit of David Moyes’ side, Dele Alli returns from a ban while Lucas Moura has recovered from a head injury and will be available for selection.

As for the visitors, they will be without Robert Snodgrass (back), Sebastien Haller (groin), while Angelo Ogbonna and Ben Johnson could make a return after missing out against Wolves.

Moyes looking ahead rather than back ahead of the run-in:

“We were all disappointed but we got it out of our systems on Sunday. We did a lot of things in the Wolves game that we were pleased with and other things that weren’t so good, so we’ll try to improve in the next game.
“One of the problems we had was creating chances but that was down to the opponents as well. Wolves are very strong defensively and made it hard for us to get through, but we probably had the best chance in the game in the first half, but we didn’t take it.
“We need to create more chances and take more chances.”

Mourinho looking forward to having strong attacking options all available:

“That gives me for the first time since I arrived all six attacking players available for the game. I’ve had matches with only one! Now finally I have six, so I can have people playing, people on the bench, rotate the players, and our attacking options for this match are really good.

“They are all players that I like very, very much. I always liked the players who were here when I arrived and then, in the January window, we got Bergwijn, and Bergwijn, Lamela, Lucas, Son, Dele and Harry, six attacking players, all different, all very good, and the first time I have all of them available. It is the kind of problem that we coaches, we just love it.”

Their last encounter

The teams last met in November, Spurs secured a 3-2 victory at the London Stadium in Mourinho’s first game as manager.

Goals from Son Heung-Min, Moura and Harry Kane sent Spurs ninth at the time on 17 points.
