Dortmund look to keep pressure on league leaders Bayern at the Merkur-Spiel Arena

Borussia Dortmund will look to keep their faint title hopes alive when they face relegation-threatened Dusseldorf this weekend.

Lucien Farve’s side secured a narrow 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin last weekend to make it four wins out of five since the resumption of the Bundesliga.

Dusseldorf’s form has been has been improved since the break, losing just once and sit three points adrift of safety with four games remaining. They picked up an important 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim last time out.

Dortmund have had a strong recent away record, winning five of their last six matches on their travels.

A victory for the hosts would keep pressure on Mainz in 15th, and all but end Dortmund’s feint title chances.

However, three points for BVB, could be enough to secure their place in next season’s Champions League, depending on results elsewhere. It could also send Fortuna towards the bottom two, depending on Werder Bremen’s result at bottom club Paderborn, on Sunday.

Team news

Zack Steffen remains out for the strugglers, while Marcel Sobottaka and Berand Tekpetey both remain out.

Adam Bodzek picked up his 10th yellow card of the season last time out so he misses the visit of Dortmund.

As for Dortmund, Erling Braut Haaland has returned to training and could make the starting eleven, meanwhile Marco Reus, Nico Schulz and Mahmoud Dahoud remain sidelined.

Max Hummels could also return for Dortmund after missing out last weekend due to suspension.

Head-to-head

Dortmund have largely had the better of meetings between the two sides, winning six of the ten matches with Dusseldorf claiming victory once.

Jadon Sancho was the star of the show earlier in the season when he helped his side ease to a 5-0 victory in the reverse meeting.
