Steven Bergwijn has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year-deal from Eredivise side PSV Eindhoven.

With less than 72 hours left in the transfer window, the North London club have got their man for £27m according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old has scored five goals and created 10 in 16 Dutch league games this season before moving to the Premier League.

The new Spurs signing has also been directly involved in 41 goals for PSV in the Eredivisie since the August of 2018 (19 goals & 22 assists). Outnumbered only by two Ajax stars; Dusan Tadic and Hakim Ziyech with 63 and 47 goals respectively.

His creativity will be needed considering the Lilywhites scored an underwhelming two goals in the last four games. The Dutchman will therefore replace recently sold midfielder Christian Eriksen in effect but also in number, Bergwijn will wear the number 23 to honour his favourite sportsmen: David Beckham, Lebron James and Michael Jordan.

Nonetheless, Bergwijn is a left-winger who isn’t restricted to play in any areas of the final third. Manager Jose Mourinho will be delighted to see him replace injured striker Harry Kane.

The versatile forward came through the Ajax academy until the age of 14 before joining PSV and working his way through the ranks until he made his debut for the first team.

Moreover at only 22 Bergwijn has already three Eredivise titles and one Supercup and nine international caps under his belt.
