Underdogs Accrington Stanley travel to Birmingham to take on Coventry City

Coventry City will hope to put an end to their rut in form when Accrington Stanley visit St Andrews on Saturday.

Mark Robins’ side aim to set an end to their inconsistent form by recording all three points against Stanley.

The Sky Blues have gone through a rollercoaster ride in form this season.

Coventry City were unbeaten in Sky Bet League One until Saturday 5th of October when they were thumped 4-0 by Rotherham.

Since then the Midlands-based side have won just once – a 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town.

Accrington Stanley, meanwhile, will be desperate to bounce back from consecutive defeats to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

The Lancashire club are two points clear of the relegation zone; however, back-to-back defeats against Peterborough United and Gillingham have heaped early survival fears into John Coleman’s side.

The hosts will be without Fankaty Dabo (suspended). John Pask is recovering from an injury so Tennai Watson could be gifted the opportunity to feature at right-back.

Matty Godden will be unavailable for up to four months with a long-term injury; Wesley Jobello’s unfortunate Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury rules him out for the season.

Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman revealed his side’s injury concerns ahead of the trip to the West Midlands.

“Zaine Francis-Angol’s out and Sadou Diallo, we’ll find out if he’s going to be fit for this week.

“We’re waiting for the all-clear for Joe Maguire.”

Mark Robins claimed that Accrington Stanley can no longer play along with their ‘underdog’ status after achieving relative success to the Sky Blues.

“It will be another tough game tomorrow against Accrington who let’s not forget were promoted with us, but they were promoted as champions only a couple of years ago.

“They look at themselves and play down their achievements, but they are competing on merit because they are a good side managed well by John Coleman.”

Speaking about his side’s chances at St Andrews, Coleman revelled in Stanley’s form at bigger stadiums.

 “They are playing well, Mark Robins has always got good players and got them well organised.

“We generally operate well in big stadiums, I’m looking forward to the game and it’s another ground chalked off for me.”
