Wolves will be without Meritan Shabani and Bruno Jordao who are both injured and Romain Saiss is suspended for this fixture.

Craig Cathcart, Issac Success and Troy Deeney are all out for Watford due to injuries.

Mixed feelings of both joy and sadness greeted Nuno Espirito Santo at the final whistle of Wolves’ Carabao Cup victory over Reading.

“I think the first-half was good, was well-played – a lot of players were new and I was very happy, but it was also sad in the end about the injuries of Bruno and Shabani – very sad.

“But the first-half was good, we played good, controlled the game, created chances, played well in situations, well defended, but the second-half was not so good.

“When we were down to 10-men, one man less, and Reading were pushing, crossing balls, the game became harder.

“The noise in the penalty shootout was fantastic, the fans were pushing the team, and it’s easier to take a penalty with such noise. They played their part in that, and in the end, we are happy because we wanted to go through and we did go through.”

Quique Sánchez Flores was grateful for the unwavering support of the rain-soaked Vicarage Road crowd and was pleased to repay them, in some small way, for their loyalty following the heavy defeat at the weekend.

“The most important thing is to win and to be positive in the dressing room,” said the Head Coach. “We had a very good energy and we felt warm during the match. I say thank you from the players as they are very grateful they can play in this atmosphere.

“I think it was a different experience for us,” he said. “It was very new trying to recuperate this moment. We don’t need reasons to be sad – we need reasons to react. You have to recover from this kind of accident and show everyone you can do much better, you can change things and get to another level.

“The opportunity we had today, two days after, was amazing. Sometimes you have to wait for two weeks. We could show we can do much better. This is now the past and we have another very important game in a few days.”
