Mansfield Town face Morecambe at home in the Carabao Cup

For the second time in the space of three days, the Stags play Morecambe at the One Call Stadium with both teams looking to progress to round two of the Carabao Cup.

Mansfield Town will host Morecambe yet again, but this time in the Carabao Cup with their last encounter happening just two days ago on Saturday where Mansfield came from behind to draw the game 2-2.

Team news

Mansfield will be without long-term absentees Craig Davies and Bobby Olejnik for the clash. The game will also likely come too soon for midfielder Willem Tomlinson.

Fellow midfield man Jacob Mellis, alongside defender Matt Preston, are suspended for the fixture.

The Shrimps will be without A-Jay Leitch-Smith at One Call Stadium.

Assistant manager Lee Glover has revealed that a strong lineup will be named for Tuesday evening’s first round Carabao Cup clash against Morecambe, with the aim to kick-start a ‘good cup run’ in the competition.

“We’ll put out a strong side tomorrow [against Morecambe]because we want to get through [in the Carabao Cup].

“It would be nice to have a good cup run, because the supporters like it, so we’ll be respectful of any cup. We’ll put a side out that will hopefully win the game.”

Shrimps’ boss Jim Bentley said he was happy with his side’s response to the opening day defeat to Grimsby in gaining a point at Mansfield.

“It was an eventful game against one of the most fancied teams in the league.

“We started well and deserved out lead. We were well on top, got two goals and were desperately unlucky not to get a third through Adam Buxton’s amazing free kick that cold have killed them off if it had gone in.”

Head-to-head

Mansfield have been unbeaten in their past five games against Morecambe and will be looking to continue that streak.

Expected line-ups

Mansfield Town’s XI – Stone; Benning, Sweeney, Pearce, Gordon; MacDonald, Bishop, Khan; Hamilton, Cook, Maynard.

Morecambe XI – Halstead; Conlan, Old, Lavelle, Buxton; Wildig, Kenyon, Ellison, Alessandra, O’Sullivan; Miller
