Dani Ceballos joins Arsenal on season-long loan

The player had been touted with a loan move to the Premier League since the conclusion of the UEFA U-21 Euros. After being linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, the Real Madrid man has joined Unai Emery’s Arsenal.

The 22-year-old had an impressive campaign for Spain the the UEFA U-21 Euros, where he assisted two and scored two for eventual tournament winners, Spain. A highly touted prospect since his break-out season at Real Betis, the midfielder signed for Real Madrid but has struggled to fit into Zinedine Zidane’s plans.

Even under both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, the player made only 13 appearances in La Liga with only 10 of them being starts. Once Zidane returned again, many feared that he would once again find himself battling for minutes under the Frenchman.

The Spaniard pleaded openly in the press that the club do not sell him, which proved to be successful as reports have suggested that the player does not have a purchase option in his loan deal.

On his day, Ceballos is a truly outstanding player. Capable of carrying the ball and creating chances through both his fantastic dribbling and passing range, he is also adept at winning fouls and pressing players to win the ball.

With Aaron Ramsey having left a void in Arsenal’s midfield, it will be interesting to see how Ceballos develops and grows with the Arsenal squad over the coming season.
