Manchester United announce Wan-Bissaka signing

Manchester United have today announced the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for a fee believed to be around £50 million.

Wan-Bissaka becomes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s second signing as United boss after Daniel James’ arrival from Swansea early in the window. The transfer clearly signals the Norweigan’s intentions to bring homegrown talent to Old Trafford this summer.

The 21-year-old, who made his first-team debut for Crystal Palace in February 2018 after coming through their youth academy, signs a five-year deal with the Red Devils with an option to extend for a further year.

The young Englishman, who was part of the nation’s Under-21 squad at this summer’s European Championships, becomes United’s fourth-highest transfer of all time.

United announced the deal through their Twitter account:

Commenting on the transfer, Solskjaer was clearly pleased to add one of the standout young players in the Premier League:

“Aaron is one of the best upcoming defenders in the Premier League. He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.”

Wan-Bissaka is expected to now join the Red Devils for pre-season as Solskjaer’s men travel to Australia, China, Singapore and Wales.
