Chelsea boss Sarri ‘expects to be freed’ from contract ahead of Juventus switch

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri expects to shortly be released from his contract ahead of his rumoured appointment at Juventus, according to Sky in Italy.

The Italian tactician is expected to replace the outgoing Massimiliano Allegri at the Allianz Stadium, despite spearheading Chelsea’s return to the Champions League this season.

Sarri’s side achieved a third-place Premier League finish, and also lifted the Europa League to round off a successful campaign.

But the 60-year-old has been heavily criticised for his tactical stubbornness and questionable team selections, and is reported to have held talks with Blues director Marina Granovskaia on Friday. It is believed that Sarri confirmed his desire to leave Stamford Bridge in the meeting.

There are expected to be no complications during Sarri’s departure, paving his way to take the reigns at the Serie A champions on a three-year deal worth £19 million.

Frank Lampard is currently the rumoured favourite to replace Sarri.
