Everton have confirmed the signing of Jonas Lössl who will join the club officially on a three-year deal after his contract with Huddersfield expires on July 1.
The Dane made 31 appearances for the Terriers last season as the side were relegated from the top flight after a two-year stay.
In 2017, he initially joined Huddersfield on loan from German side Mainz in 2017, making the deal permanent the following year after being on of the star players with them staying up.
Recording 15 clean sheets in a total of 72 appearances for Huddersfield, the 30 year-old will now join the Merseyside outfit where he is expected to provide competition for England’s number 1 shot-stopper, Jordan Pickford.
In a brief post on social media, Lössl confirmed the news:
“A very happy day for me and my family. Can’t wait to get started and achieve great things with Everton.
Feeling very proud. Thank you to everybody involved making this possible. Can’t wait to become a part of this great club.”
The goalkeeper has one cap for his country and is brought in by manager Marco Silva who is keen to increase the competition among his men between the sticks.
As the only other options for the toffees being 19-year-old Portuguese keeper João Virginia, whose impressing when playing for the Blues under 23 side since joining from Arsenal in 2018.
Lössl started his career in his home country of Denmark at FC Midtjylland before moving to Guingamp in 2014, spending two seasons with the French side.
