Nikita Parris announces departure from Manchester City Women

Manchester City forward Nikita Parris will leave the club at the end of the Women’s Super League season.

In City’s last game of the season, a 1-0 defeat against champions Arsenal, Parris was an unused substitute. The England international who was named in Phil Neville’s squad earlier in the week made the announcement on social media saying:

“After five years the moment has come, to call time on my career as a Manchester City Women’s player.

“Thanks to the fans for their support over the last 5 years, I’ve given this club everything & won every trophy domestically possible to win.

“Time for the next chapter.”

Parris finished the season as City’s top scorer with 19 league goals, at a rate of 84 minutes per goal, and seven assists.

The 25-year-old was named as the Football Writers’ Association’s Women’s Footballer of the Year last month.

Since joining the club, Parris has won the WSL, two League Cups and two FA Cups. The Toxteth-born forward is the WSL’s record scorer since surpassing former Chelsea forward Eni Aluko’s haul of 36 goals in November and has a career league tally of 47.

Parris has been linked with a move to French side Lyon and would be reunited with former City players Lucy Bronze and Izzy Christiansen if she were to join the club.
